Is it better to use hinges or aluminum alloy door and window hinges?
1. Different locations. The sliding support and the support block are used in different positions. Taking the suspended window as an example, the sliding brace is used at the corner above the window, while the brace is used at the corner below the window or in the middle and lower parts; The installation positions of hinges and sliding braces are different. The hinge is installed on the rotating side of the door and window sash, while the sliding brace is installed on the upper and lower (flat opening) or left and right (hanging window) sides of the window sash. Sliding braces are not used for installing aluminum alloy doors.
2. Different functions. The functions of support and sliding support are different. The sliding support supports the movement of the window sash and maintains its open state. It is an important load-bearing member throughout the entire process, while the support only works when maintaining the window opening angle, and its force is generally small (the force can be calculated based on the moment balance). For the same orange window, the installation position of the sliding bracket is relatively fixed, while the bracket can be adjusted within a large range below the window. The length and installation position of the bracket determine the range of the window sash's opening angle.
3. The function of hinges during the opening process of doors and windows is exactly the same as that of sliding braces, but when hinges are used, the window sash only rotates, while when sliding braces are used, the window sash rotates and moves at the same time. Often times, hinges and sliding braces can be used interchangeably, but in some special cases, hinges must be used. For example, hinges are generally used for swing down or top hung windows, and sliding braces are difficult to meet the stress requirements for oversized swing doors and windows. In this case, multiple hinges need to be used to jointly bear the force.
4. Hinges are used on casement windows because they cannot provide the same frictional force as sliding supports. Therefore, they are often used together with support blocks to avoid wind blowing the window sash back and damaging it when the window is opened. But the sliding brace is different, it can provide a certain amount of friction, so it can be used alone. The sliding brace used on the casement window and the sliding brace used on the hanging window are different in length from the outer arm connected to the window frame. When the hanging window reaches a certain size, due to its own weight, it also needs to be used with certain support blocks.
5. The difference in material is that sliding braces and wind braces are generally made of stainless steel, while hinges have various materials such as stainless steel and aluminum alloy.
